LDPE was the resin that made blown film commercially viable decades before LLDPE existed, and it still earns a place in many structures today for properties that newer resins do not fully replicate. Its highly branched molecular structure gives it excellent clarity, softness, and a low, forgiving seal initiation temperature.

Where LDPE falls short of LLDPE is tensile strength and puncture resistance at equivalent gauge, which is why most modern structures use LDPE as a blend component or a specific layer rather than as the sole resin in demanding applications. It remains a strong choice for applications prioritizing softness, clarity, and easy sealing over maximum toughness, such as light-duty bags and certain laminating films.
