CPP is produced by the cast film process rather than biaxial orientation, leaving the polymer chains largely unstretched. That structural difference from BOPP is exactly why CPP exists as a separate product: where BOPP sacrifices sealability for stiffness and clarity, CPP retains a reliable, consistent heat seal while still offering good optical clarity of its own.

CPP is widely used as the inner sealant layer in laminated structures paired with BOPP, nylon, or metallized PET as the outer layer, combining each material's strength where it matters. It also stands on its own in applications needing a soft, flexible polypropylene film with good clarity and moderate barrier properties, such as twist wrap and certain textile packaging. Its heat resistance is generally good enough for standard retort and hot-fill applications when formulated appropriately, which is a property pure polyethylene films cannot match.
