Why does my film keep curling on the roll?

Curling almost always traces back to uneven internal stress laid down during cooling, not something that happens after the roll leaves the plant. If one side of the bubble cools faster than the other, due to an air ring out of balance or uneven die temperature, the film sets with asymmetric stress baked in. That stress stays hidden while the film is wound tightly under tension, then releases as curl the moment the film is unwound and relaxes.

Gauge variation across the width can cause the same effect, since thicker and thinner bands cool and shrink at different rates. If your curling is consistent on one edge every time, that points to a cooling or die balance issue on our end, and it is worth flagging to us with a sample so we can check the gauge profile and air ring balance on that run.
